Transforming the Neurodiversity Landscape

Through a strategic blend of clinical precision, systemic advocacy, and digital innovation, we deliver scalable solutions that dismantle barriers and foster a more inclusive Africa for the neurodivergent community.

Strategic Media & Advocacy

NeuroDigest is the flagship advocacy and media program of Andy Speaks, dedicated to mainstreaming neurodiversity conversations across Africa. By leveraging diverse media channels—including TV, podcasts, and town hall forums—it bridges the information gap between clinical expertise and public understanding, empowering caregivers to seek early intervention and social protection benefits.

Media & Awareness Platforms

We utilize a multi-channel digital strategy to educate the general public and eradicate the cultural stigma surrounding developmental disabilities.

  • NeuroDigest Podcast: A platform for “sharing African stories of neurodiversity” where caregivers, professionals, and neurodivergent individuals engage in meaningful dialogue to foster unity and understanding.

  • NeuroConversations: A collaborative initiative involving media platforms to amplify the voices of caregivers, highlighting both the challenges and triumphs within the community.

  • Social Media Outreach: Strategic dissemination of insightful content, expert parenting advice, and motivational messages to support families on their journey.

Annual in-person forums that bring together caregivers and key stakeholders to identify systemic challenges and influence national policy.

  • Stakeholder Feedback: A crucial platform for gathering ground-level insights into the actual challenges faced by those providing care.

  • Policy Advocacy: Insights from these sessions are used to engage with national leadership, ensuring local experiences contribute to informed decision-making and inclusive policy reforms.

Interactive psychosocial support sessions designed for the people at the heart of a child’s progress: their caregivers.

  • Interactive Webinars: These sessions unite special needs parents and support teams with professionals to share invaluable experiences in caregiving and special needs parenting.

  • Peer-to-Peer Support: A digital “safe space” where families can learn from one another, reducing the isolation often felt by caregivers in neurotypical societies.

Cycling for Awareness, Inclusion, and Early Intervention

Ride 4 Autism Africa is an annual flagship awareness and fundraising event that traverses multiple counties in Kenya and other African nations. Over the past five years, our bikers and cyclists have covered over 2,500 kilometers across 38 cities and 5 countries to champion the rights of the neurodiverse community and advocate for early intervention.

Strategic Awareness & Advocacy

We turn public roads into platforms for advocacy, reaching thousands of people to dismantle cultural stigma.

  • Regional Visibility: Coordination of high-impact cycling events that engage local communities and leaders across the continent.

  • Acceptance Campaigns: Dedicated efforts during Autism Awareness Month (April) to promote acceptance and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Policy Engagement: Leveraging the momentum of the ride to influence policy reforms and improve government support for neurodiverse families.

The “Ride for Autism” serves as a critical resource mobilization engine for our infrastructure projects.

  • School Renovations: Funds raised are dedicated to refurbishing and equipping Autism classrooms in public schools.

  • Integrated Therapy Centres: We establish therapy units within special units of public schools to ensure students have immediate access to specialized care.
  • Student Beneficiaries: To date, these efforts have directly benefited over 300 students through improved learning environments and therapy services.

Expanding our reach through the Sports 4 Autism Africa initiative to provide new pathways for skill development.

  • Harnessing Sports: Using mini-golf to help neurodivergent individuals engage in physical activity and build confidence.

  • Talent Identification: Providing professional training opportunities for participants who show high potential in sports.
  • Economic Empowerment: Prize winnings from these competitions provide essential financial support for neurodivergent individuals and their families.

Bringing Vital Healthcare Services Directly to Communities

NeuroCaravan is a pioneering mobile outreach initiative designed to bridge the healthcare gap for neurodivergent individuals and their families. By traversing various counties, this mobile disability services program delivers on-site clinical support and essential government linkages directly to remote and underserved populations.

Mobile Medical Camps

We organize nationwide series of medical camps to provide caregivers and their dependents with free access to professional healthcare.

  • Clinical Check-ups: Complimentary medical examinations including dental care, eye examinations, and lab screenings.

  • Specialized Support: Access to neurodevelopmental screenings, therapy consultations, and referrals to specialized medical care.

The caravan facilitates immediate access to critical documentation and support services that are often difficult for families to obtain independently.

  • Disability Assessments: Professional educational and clinical assessments required for proper diagnosis and intervention planning.

  • Mass NCPWD Registration: On-site registration support for the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) disability card and cash transfer programs.

Every outreach mission doubles as an advocacy platform to dismantle local stigma and educate the public on neurodiversity.

  • Awareness Campaigns: Direct community engagement and sensitization programs to promote social acceptance and understanding.

  • Caregiver Empowerment: Providing training and resources during medical camps to help families better navigate their caregiving journeys.

Psychosocial Wellness & Empowerment for Caregivers

A Seat for Her is a targeted psychosocial support program designed to address the unique challenges faced by mothers of children with neurodevelopmental and psychosocial disabilities. Particularly focused on single or economically disadvantaged caregivers, the program provides a dedicated “safe space” for mental wellness and empowerment.

Psychosocial & Emotional Wellness

We prioritize the mental health of caregivers to ensure they have the emotional capacity to care for themselves and their children.

  • Professional Counselling: Access to expert psychological support to manage caregiver stress and trauma.
  • Peer Support Groups: Facilitated circles where mothers can share lived experiences and build communal resilience.
  • Caregiver Empowerment: Fostering community and reducing the isolation often felt by mothers in their caregiving journeys.

We equip mothers with the knowledge and tools needed for long-term sustainability.

  • Educational Workshops: Training sessions focused on specialized caregiving skills and child development.
  • Respite Services: Future-focused initiatives aimed at providing temporary relief for caregivers to prevent burnout.
  • Capacity Building: Enhancing the ability of mothers to advocate for greater recognition of their critical role in society.

The program is hosted within the Nexus Therapy Centre ecosystem to ensure a holistic link between caregiver support and child therapy.

  • Centralized Support: A comprehensive suite of wellness services provided in a single, accessible location.
  • Sustainable Networks: Creating long-lasting connections between families and professional clinical support teams.

Autism Classes Renovations

Autism Classes renovations

Autism Classes Renovations is a transformative infrastructure initiative dedicated to upgrading, equipping, and adapting learning environments for children on the autism spectrum across Kenya. By turning ordinary, under-resourced classrooms into sensory-friendly, safe, and engaging spaces, the program ensures that neurodivergent learners in public and community schools receive the dignity, specialized tools, and environment they need to thrive.

Psychosocial & Emotional Wellness
  • We provide holistic support systems within school communities, ensuring that teachers, caregivers, and learners build the mental resilience required to navigate neurodiversity.

    • Teacher & Caregiver Support Circles: Safe spaces and professional guidance for educators and parents to cope with burnout, stigma, and the daily emotional demands of special needs caregiving.

    • Peer Mentorship & Capacity Building: Empowering local school communities with shared knowledge, coping strategies, and mental wellness tools tailored to the Kenyan context.

    • Child Confidence Building: Nurturing self-esteem and emotional security in neurodivergent students so they feel valued, understood, and safe inside their classrooms.

We reshape physical classrooms and learning routines to accommodate sensory sensitivities, giving students structured spaces to learn and parents vital breathing room.

  • Sensory-Optimized Classroom Layouts: Transforming standard rooms with calming quiet corners, reduced visual clutter, and specialized furniture tailored for children with autism.

  • Adapted Learning Materials: Equipping renovated spaces with locally relevant, tactile, and visual learning aids that match special education curricula.

  • Respite Care Support: Creating structured structures that give overburdened parents and educators reliable breaks, knowing their children are in a secure, specialized environment.
